After a week of packing, harvesting, rebuilding, cooking, sorting, cleaning and helping, Friday night arrives. The pace softens, the noise quietens and suddenly, you’re not just here to give; you’re here to


This year, Rosh Hashanah begins on Friday evening, September 11, and continues through Sunday night, September 13. Many communities will offer special holiday services and meals in place of their usual Friday-night programming. Advance registration is strongly recommended, and visitors should confirm arrangements directly with each organization.


🍎 Chabad on the Coast

A warm, vibrant community for English-speaking residents, visitors and volunteers in Tel Aviv. Chabad on the Coast welcomes Jews of all backgrounds for uplifting Shabbat and holiday services and meals.

This year’s Rosh Hashanah community dinner takes place on Friday, September 11, at 8:30 PM, following candle lighting and evening services. Advance registration is required.

🌊 Drum Beach

Welcome Shabbat by the sea with music, dancing and Tel Aviv community spirit. Drummers traditionally gather on Friday afternoons near the former Dolphinarium area, with the energy building as sunset approaches. It’s informal, joyful and very Tel Aviv.

✨ Kabbalat Shabbat at Beit Tefilah Israeli

A joyful, soulful and distinctly Tel Aviv way to welcome Shabbat, blending traditional prayer with Israeli music and communal singing. Weekly gatherings are warm, musical and welcoming to visitors.

🎶 Musical Kabbalat Shabbat at Beit Daniel

A festive musical service combining Hebrew prayer, familiar melodies and a warm community atmosphere, followed by kiddush. Visitors are welcome.

🕍 Tel Aviv International Synagogue

Located on Frishman Street, the Tel Aviv International Synagogue offers lively, welcoming services and community events for English speakers, international visitors and locals.

The Shabbbat Fairy helps connect Shabbat hosts with guests at tables across Tel Aviv. Watch for her weekly Facebook sign-up posts or message her directly. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience Shabbat around a local family or community table.
