Why I Stand With Israel - A Personal Journey

Last fall, I spent ten days traveling in Israel, followed by a few months volunteering at Kibbutz Ein Gev in the north. The experience changed me. After the horrific Hamas attacks on October 7, my commitment to Israel deepened. It was the largest pogrom since the Holocaust, nothing more, nothing less. Watching Israel suffer and seeing antisemitism rise across Europe made me sick. I knew I had to act.
During my time at the kibbutz, I met people from all backgrounds, resilient, warm, and deeply rooted in their land and community. I worked in the dining hall, helped wherever I could, and fell in love with the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights, and the peaceful north.
But above all, it was the people who left a mark on me: parents fearing for their children, youth dealing with trauma, and communities mourning their losses. Their strength in the face of evil was unforgettable.
The world must wake up. Israel is fighting not just for itself, but for the democratic values we all share.
Kibbutzim symbolize Israel’s soul, inclusive, family centered, and built on shared purpose. I hope more people will visit and see for themselves.
If you get the chance to go to Israel, take it. You won’t regret it. Yachad nenatzeach together we will win.
