Good Deeds, Great Company, and Even Better Peppers! |

By Eefje Van Galen, Holland One of the highlights of our most recent trip was volunteering in Karmiyah, where we helped pick bell peppers and chili peppers. It was a little sad to see that many of the plants were diseased, and much of the crop had to be thrown away. The fields didn’t look very healthy. 😢 After harvesting, we packed tomatoes, cleaned potatoes, and were treated to the most delicious homemade lunch by the kind farmer hosting us. I had worked on this same farm with my husband in December 2024, and this time I returned with a friend. It’s a wonderful experience - you can work indoors or outdoors, alone or in a group. The rewards are meeting kind people, enjoying great food, and even taking home fresh vegetables! 🍅 We also enjoyed two amazing tour days including one l with Amit Musaei to the Nova. It is always deeply moving to hear his testimony from October 7. The other was a tour of the Galilee, such a stunning region filled with history; we loved every minute! Along the way, we supported local restaurants, brought home gifts, and made sure to get our “daily vitamins” with a huge, fresh delicious pomegranate juice every day! The strange thing is, I don’t even like them back home! 😄 I’ll be back again this December with my husband to return to the farm and next time, I’ll be sure to check the dates carefully!! |
